Principal’s Report
6 boys received 8 scholarships last year – in Statistics, Geography, English and Classics.
One boy (Edward McNight) was only in year12 (6th form) well done!
He is repeating the dose this year with a different set of subjects.
The Year 9’s had a great week at Motutapu.
Interesting (and excellent) to note that a few parents of past boys are still helping out with the School.
The School joined with Dio and Kings to hold an Anglican Schools farewell for the Bishop at the Cathedral.

At the athletics finals, Jordan Peters equaled the High Jump record of 1.9 meters – Jordan is only an Intermediate, so, well done to Jordan!
This record had been in place since 1989 (we think Shane Philips?)
Founders Day Weekend coming up.
The School is hoping that a few more Old Boys than usual are coming to the Assembly.
There is plenty of information being sent out about this so we hope to see many Old Boys coming along!
Donald had a meeting with Mike Moore yesterday and congratulated him personally for his appointment.
Mike has set-up a Creative Wisdom group through the AUT – to try and roll out his School Aid/Global Charity, once Dilworth has done a good job.
Dilworth Old Boys have donated a lot of money for the gateway and organ.
The school have arranged for plaques to be placed before the Founders Weekend.
Old Boys are invited to hear the amazing organ for 30 minutes (7:30pm) before the service (8pm).
39 Market Rd – The Trust Board have taken good advice and purchased this Bed & Breakfast for the use of the School.
To have a third way safe house for a small number of students who one of the following problems:
- A lot of stuff going on in their life so need a little TLC while they get some issues sorted out
- For kids who become orphaned or have a major break down in the family situation – available to them for weekends and holidays
A host family has been appointed – Claudine Nathan + (husband and two boys) will set-up a home away from home for boys in special circumstances.
This is not a house for naughty boys but rather a house for boys who need extra care.
The building itself is of Edwardian design and is in immaculate condition, with a great kitchen!
It will be kitted out to make it more more “boy friendly” with “boy proof fittings”.
This has been a big project going on behind the scenes over the last year. They hope to open it next term.
The Ella Burford trust will be launched to Old Boys in the middle of the year.
See info about that on the Website under the subject “Who Is This Old Boy?” [here]
Note, must have the AGM agenda amended to include the Principals report
Matters Arising From Minutes
Summer sports on Friday now. There is an after function at 7pm.
Peter will try and get cleaners in before the 5:30pm AGM.
Council should all aim to be here at 5pm.
Council want to all be on the council again for the next year, so we will stand as a council.
Peter passed around two very nice rimu boards to be used for the sports results of Old Boys vs School.
Photo of Murray getting printed at present.
Note, need to get President and Life Members (John Potter and Roger Pye) updated on to boards. Grant will confirm names by email to Peter. Peter to organise.
The Reunion Dinner – Stuart, Grant, and Jacob are coming.
We need to encourage Old Boys to RSVP now so that we can confirm numbers with the School.
So, Old Boys, please get to RSVP’ing now.
Country Reunion – amazing deals on accommodation at that time of the year so we don’t have to slum it.
Inward Correspondence
Peter Thompson had difficulty paying for the dinner on the Website. He sent a cheque.
Email from Steve Taylor offering his services. Much appreciated Steve!
Outward Correspondence
Chris wrote a great letter to send to Mike Moore from the Council. Council agreed it should be sent as is. Good work Chris!
Financial Report
The 2009 Accounts have been audited by the Auditor.
We also undertook in the AGM to have all of our accounts audited from 2006 to 2008.
However, we have taken it under advisement that we should not sign-off on accounts for those 3 years.
We have done our best to compile those accounts, as we have had to guess on some of our inward income, and also have no receipts from expenses.
For 2009 we are in a position to sign-off on our audited accounts.
The Auditor was aware that there was some stuff that could not be 100% accounted for from the beginning of the year.
Grant discussed the Centennial Trust/Wine situation in detail with the Auditor. So, it is all sorted.
The administration costs for 2009 were high because we had to buy a lot of past statements from the bank so Grant could understand as best as possible the accounts for the previous years.
We have a profit of $400. In the past three years we have not pushed our subs as hard as we should have, so that has to be a focus for the next few years.
Our aim is to get up to 200 people paying their subs.
We do have an investment in the bank of $10,000, so this is earning good interest.
Council applauds Grants effort.
Grant to investigate membership cards/receipts for DOBA members.
Payments:
Fee for auditor of $270 paid to Auditor
Pay Trust Board a max of $3000 for the dinner
Annual Financial Statement to be submitted after AGM.
Have been talking to BNZ about getting online access.
Have $870 to bank (subs and dinner).
Received another $300 from Paypal.
Note: $100 for refreshments at the AGM meeting
Note: Peter to organise name tags for the Reunion Dinner

Other Business
Peter feels that over the next year we need to look at ourself as an association. Look at our memberships – how do we find more. Are we doing what members want?
