My father, who is 91, was Dilworth from 1926, I think, until he was 14 years old. I would really like for someone to reply to this, who knows him. I know there would be very few still with us, but it would be really nice for him if I made contact with someone.

Regards.

Kia ora,

I thought it was time to touch base with a network of people that I have sadly lost touch with.

I have been living in Australia since 2005.

Look forward to getting back in touch with the Old Boys association.

Cheers,

Free.

I am the daughter of old boy number 175, Dudley Berryman Roy, who attended the school from 1919 until 1927. I am presently writing the story of my father's life for my four nephews who were also left without a father when their dad, my brother, died when the oldest boy was 12 and the youngest 2. My father lived through very difficult times and despite this became a successful architect and family man. I believe Dilworth gave a disadvantaged six year old boy educational opportunities and a valuable network he may otherwise not have enjoyed. It is my intention to make a copy of the story available for the school archives but would first like to understand a little more of what Dilworth was like in the 1920s. I would be interested to communicate with anyone who might have had a family member at the school at that time.

My father attended Dilworth 1916 - 1922 and I have been in communication with Evan Lewis as I was interested to know if he could give me information about my father's school days. He has done even better than that - he has copied me correspondence between my father and Mr Gibson, the Headmaster, from the time father left Dilworth to 1926. It has given me a wonderfully comprehensive insight to father's early working life and I am truly greatful to Dilworth and Evan for maintaining and providing such generous and worthwhile archival material.

Great coverage of recent events Mark and so prompt - well done.
I can only assume the outcome of the sports aren't posted because of the results.

Cheers

Mark and team - it's great to see interest building in the DOBA website. Congrat's!

I'm still living and working in Seattle though sometimes yearn to be back in NZ. Have been living in the US since 1995, longer than I spent living in Australia after leaving school. My elder brother, Ken, has a home in the Philippines and works in Australia in the maritime industry. My little brother, Peter, is living in Auckland and apprenticed as a carpenter. All 3 of us are old boys.

I won't be attending any NZ or Australia-based DOBA gatherings in the foreseeable future but do get back occasionally. I'll look at the website to see what I should attend when I know I'm coming for a visit. By the way, the upcoming presentation by George Barker sounds like it will be a blast!

Cheers to all,

Doug (1972-81)
